Mention Mullingar, and chances are the reply will be - Joe Dolan!

Irelands Singing Ambassador who hailed from the Co.Westmeath town entertained his worldwide legion of fans for 5 Decades, and now it’s no surprise that a Festival in his name is to take place in Mullingar over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

Fri 3rd, Sat 4th and Sun 5th of August 2012.

The Joe Dolan Festival will be a midsummer mix of Concerts, Theatre Shows, Dancing, and Family Entertainment.

Headlining the Festival will be The Award Winning, Joe Dolan, The Reunion Show. A production which sees a projected Joe, reunited with his live band for an outstanding performance at Mullingar Arts Centre. This performance attracted 10,000 people to a similar event in Killarney at the INEC in 2008.

Also, Joe’s brother Ben introduces his new show, ’My Brother Joe’ which is a mix of Ben’s stories of growing up, and life on the road with Joe, and of course all of those hits.

The Free Music Stage will host a mix of live bands on the street and the novel Joe Dolan Impersonator Contest.

A free guided tour will take tourists on the Joe Dolan Trail on The Failte Ireland Belvedere Bus, which will take in the Joe Dolan Statue, the Joe Dolan Bridge, and Belvedere House and Gardens, where the Joe Dolan Wall of Fame is on display.

All in all a great way to spend the summer break !
